Redistricting would split City of Richmond
Message from Mayor McLaughlin

June 24, 2011

Dear Friends,

Please see my statement to the Redistricting Commission below.  Obviously, splitting Richmond is not a good idea.  We've worked hard to bring people together city-wide and keeping that effort going foward is extremely important.

Dear Commissioners,
Although I am not taking a position regarding in which district Richmond is placed, I strongly object to dividing Richmond and strongly support redrawing the lines in a way that keeps Richmond unified.
Community ties run deep in Richmond.  One of our themes for ongoing community development is:  One Richmond!
I thank you for your attention to our concerns and look foward to a redrawing of the lines.
Gayle McLaughlin
Mayor, City of Richmond, CA

PS - The deadline for input is June 28, 2011. You can make your voice heard by going to the website of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission >>
