Richmond Marks New Jobs Program for Youth

By Shelly Meron
Contra Costa Times

Richmond Mayor Gayle McLaughlin will honor the Richmond Youth Corps, a new jobs program for youth, Friday.

The program provides part-time work for Richmond residents ages 17 to 24 for five months at various city departments. Jobs include landscaping, computer-related tasks and work with the city's public access television station.

Participants will get a completion certificate and, whenever possible, be hired permanently in their departments. All also will be given help with job searches.

Friday's event is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. ┬┐outside┬┐ [sic] City Hall, 450 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond.
